Forms or No forms?

Saturday, November 7, 2009 |
I have seen a lot of bloggers lately now using forms for their contests due to spam and privacy concerns. I don't know if I should use forms or not, I mean commenting is fun for me but the use of forms is better. I have three options:
  • 1. Don't leave your email in the comment section- You enter by commenting but you don't leave your email address. You just need to make sure that I can track you down, meaning your email should be in your blogger profile or either you have a blog and so I can look for your email there.
  • 2. Forms- I think all of you guys know what forms are..? This way your emails won't be shown, only I will know your email so I can contact you if you win. Plus this is easier and a more organized way.
  • 3. Comment with email- This is what I'm doing right now. Your email is exposed to everyone. I guarantee that I never sell/give your emails to anyone, it's just exposed in the blog.
What do you guys prefer? Option 1? 2? Or 3? Please tell me in the comment section below! This is for your benefit and my benefit.

Well I for one usually comment and fill out the form - I like comments though, so if I stop by I try to make a comment! :) Your blog is great and I think no matter what you do everyone will be fine with it :)

I'm going to start doing forms. It's better for my readers, and easier for me. But, you know, that's just me....

i like option one because you can still see the comments but maybe harder to let the winners know.

I like the forms. It makes everything easier and more organized.

The only thing I don't like about the forms is that sometimes you don't know what you can do for extra entries until you're in the form. If they'd say in the post that would be awesome.

I'm thinking of going to form for privacy and ease BUT I'm going to ask people to still comment that they entered.

I like the comments because I can see how many other people are entering, and if I'm confused about how an extra entry works, I can just see how someone else wrote it.

I like forms, just so you don't have to worry about privacy issues, but I agree with Jill that the extra entries options should be in the post too.

I like the idea of forms to cut back on the spam. Commenting is something I would do just to say I entered and thank you, but of course without having to worry about my email getting spammed. (Hugs)Indigo

I like option #2 - the forms! It's really easy and I think I've seen on some places for comments??

Hm.. I've entered contests using the forms before. And I gotta say that it's easier and faster. I guess it's a better way, so I'd say Option #2 :D

Hm, I've been considering trying out forms, but I have to admit that I like the comments. What I'm thinking of doing is starting forms, then asking people to comment with a question. :)

I like option 2... I was actually shocked when I entered a couple of contacts with them and how organized they made everything...

Hi :)
I like option 1 and 2.
Forms are easy to fill out for the commentor too.

All the best,

Option 2. I like using forms. It's more organized and none of our information is exposed.

This is a good question and one I've been wondering about too. I have to admit that it's easier to enter that way but nice to still be able to comment. I don't even know how to add the forms if I did decide to use them!
