For Zaria Tourmaline, the three years without her mother and brother have been lonely ones, living with a cold and distant guardian while she completes her education. Just as she is ready to join the world of adult fairies and genies, she finds a spellbook written entirely in her mother’s hand. But this treasured object is not safe from a new enemy, a fairy with more power than Zaria ever dreamed existed. Only among the humans–who must never know fairies and genies exist–can Zaria hide the spellbook; but hidden magic, it turns out, can expose a fairy in ways she never thought possible.
Violet Wings is a world full of fantasy, with fairies, genies, gnomes, and humans. Hanley introduces us a world full of magical creatures.

Fairies. Hanley did not just make this book for young adult, but more on to kids as well. This book is mainly about fairies which I do think is a clever idea. This attracts a younger target audience but that did not stop me from reading more onto the story. I was engrossed the whole time, and I almost had read this book in one sitting.

I adored a lot of the characters in this book. They were very relatable and simple characters, there was nothing so complicated about them, of course they were magical creatures but apart from that I do think that Hanley developed all the characters very well. The character I most adored was Zaria, she is such a kind fairy, and she has a lot of relationships with her friends. But Zaria does not have any parents, which was the down side about her life. Leona, Zaria's best friend, was a great addition the the characters for the book. She made some adventures with Zaria more suspenseful and interesting.

The idea that I loved most about this book is that the characters were divided according to their magical ability. I thought that was very cool.

Overall, Violet Wings is a book that you will never forget. Hanley developes an adventure full of magical creatures. I cannot wait for the sequel to this book.

I am not always into fairy books but this one does look good and a 5 star review is, of course, a great reason to go for it. Thanks for the review!

Definitely sounds like this is aimed at tweens which means you'll find it in my school library very shortly. I know some girls that will just adore this. Thanks.

Sounds great, I just adore reading about faeries. I really enjoyed reading Wicked Lovley and this one sounds just right for me.
