Author Interview:Yvonne Prinz

Today, I'm excited to have Yvonne Prinz in my blog! She is the author of The Vinyl Princess which is due Dec 22. I can't wait to read it! =)



Describe yourself in one word.
Enthusiastic.

Why did you make blogging and music a pretty big roll in The Vinyl Princess?
I have a strong musical background. My Dad was a musician, I worked in a record store when I was a kid and now I own three of them. I’m also a crazed music lover. Writing about music came easy to me, Blogging came later.

I love the cover of The Vinyl Princess! Do you have anything to do with it?
Well, I approved it but a designer read the book and came up with it. I love it too because she’s so completely blissed out on music, which is how it should be.

If you could pick a theme song for this book, what would it be and why?
I think I would pick “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley but sung by Joe Strummer because Joe, who died not so long ago, was sort of my spirit guide as I wrote this one and he was all about preserving the earth and music and so is the VP. Also, Bob Marley is one of the “Bobs” in “Bob & Bob Records” where the VP works. There’s a really beautiful message in that song and when Joe sings it, it always makes me cry.

How are you and Allie alike? How are you different?
Allie and I are very much alike. We both worked in record stores at 16. We feel the same way about music and love and we’re both emotional people but Allie is more self-assured than I was at that age.

Do you have any must-have's while writing?
Quiet, chocolate, good coffee, a flat surface. I sometimes write in my car. Oh, and a pen (don’t laugh, I don’t always have one).

If you weren't an author, what would your dream job be?
Hmmm, a Farmer (I love to grow things), or a Designer (I adore high design of anything; houses, shoes, books, paper, jewelry, fabric. All of that is very exciting to me.
