Lani and Erin are lifelong best friends — and total opposites. Lani’s a down-to-earth Taurus; Erin’s a fiery Leo. Lani likes to do her own thing; Erin prefers an entourage. They’ve always had wildly different tastes, from pizza toppings to guys.

That is, until Erin starts dating Jason.

From the minute Lani meets Jason, she can’t deny the amazing connection she feels with him. It’s like they’ve known each other their whole lives. She’s not sure if he feels it, too — but even if he does, he’s off-limits. Lani’s determined to ignore her feelings for Jason, no matter how powerful they are, rather than hurt her best friend.

Then Erin goes away for the summer — and Jason seems to appear everywhere Lani turns. How long can she keep running from the guy who just might be the love of her life?
Realistic and romantic, Something Like Fate will appeal to readers with it’s sizzling drama and distinctive characters. Colasanti has weaved a story packed with friendship, love and fate.

I treasured the fate concept in this novel… It was fun to see how Lani thought and assumed that her and Jason were meant to be. She kept trying to find their connection with each other, and when she did, she’d try to hold it back and forget about it. I really sympathized to Lani and wanting to be valiant about her feelings for Jason.

Both Lani and Erin both had very different personalities… in fact, the opposite. I never quite got why they were best friends but I guess that’s what special about the two of them. Lani was simple, eco-friendly, funny, and very quiet… quite the sweet heart. On the other side, there was Erin… out going… popular… social… naturally born to be wild. And then there’s Jason... the guy both girls fell for.

I was cheering for Lani the whole time. She always felt so contented around Jason and catches herself smiling and enjoying everything he said. Lani did the same and tried to make Jason laugh and smile at the things she says. Not only that but she knew that Jason could feel it too… the chemistry… the connection.

My only complaint about this novel was the plot line. It got very predictable at times and I wish Colasanti had complicated it more just so there was that eager vibe to the novel. It felt short at times, but, luckily, it developed until the end.

A satisfying and cute chick-lit novel that I’m sure any teenager is bound to love!

I've had my eye on this one for quite sometime. Though I have been hesitant to pick it up. I think the cover is super adorable and naughty! It's like the guy is saying, "Hey, I'm "secretly" seeing your best friend behind your back because she has a better personality. But hey, seeing as you are hot and more popular. I'll go out with you... For now. But really who are we kidding? We already know that the cliché thing is that I'll end up with her anyway so what the he'll." *wink wink* I really like the cover. I might date that boy too. ;) Great review as always! :)

Hugs, peace and cookies,
Louisse
